In the News…$20k Grant for Hogan House

We’re excited to share the progress on our first big initiative – preserving and transforming the historic Hogan House for use as a new educational and gathering space.  The structure is located on the South end of the Park off Borchers Beach Road. A Waunakee Tribune article published on May 23, 2025 provides a great summary of the project and the DNR Grant – CLICK HERE.

In April 2025, the Friends of Governor Nelston State Park received the good news that our Hogan House Renovation Project was awarded a Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Grant for $20,000! This grant fully matches the funds donated by generous friends, neighbors and community members like you. Thank you for your support and help in the first phase of this renovation project!

Hogan House renovations for Phase 1 will start soon and include installation of a fireplace insert as well as electrical, lighting, and refinishing work.

We’ll keep you posted with project updates as more become available.

With your continued support, we plan to apply for additional grant funds this Fall for new doors, windows, and more. THANK YOU!
